Agoura Hills : City Hall Considers Performance Rating

How well do Agoura Hills employees serve the public?

The city of Agoura Hills may hire a management consulting firm to find out.

City Manager Dave Adams has recommended the city pay Fresno-based Cristando House, Inc. $3,500 to conduct a review of City Hall’s performance in serving the public.

The City Council will vote on the matter tonight.

During the review, consultants would meet with department heads and other city employees to get their input on the city’s strengths and weaknesses in dealing with the public, said Ronald Cristando, the firm’s president. The company would later report its findings and suggest ways to improve.

Among other goals, the review is designed to determine if city employees are pleasant in dealing with the public, if the city has a procedure for handling customer complaints, and if employees are rewarded for providing efficient and courteous public service, Cristando said. The review would also take into consideration media coverage of the city and whether that coverage is favorable.

The review raises an ongoing issue over whether the city should open City Hall on Fridays, as some have suggested. City Hall is now open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.

Mayor Ed Corridori said he believes the review may help determine whether opening on Friday would better serve the public.
