Commission to Study Office Complex Plans
A vacant lot at the center of a dispute last summer between two companies wanting to build along Townsgate Road may soon contain an office complex proposed by a local developer.
Moshe Silagi wants to place two office buildings on the 4.71-acre lot between Townsgate and the Ventura Freeway near Lakefield Road.
The Thousand Oaks Planning Commission is scheduled to discuss the case Monday.
Last year, a Woodland Hills-based engineering firm announced that it would build a 52,000-square-foot headquarters on the same site. But the company, Ronan Engineering, backed out after the city approved plans by another company to build a self-storage facility next door.
As proposed, Silagi’s project would create two three-story, 46,500-square-foot office buildings separated by a plaza.
City planners have recommended that commissioners approve the project. In a report issued Thursday, however, planners also noted that the project does not include as many parking spaces as city standards require for buildings of similar size.
To solve the problem, the city’s planning staff has suggested reducing the size of the buildings.
