Nation IN BRIEF : ILLINOIS : Tornado Damages Homes in Decatur

A tornado--the second in 24 hours--swept through parts of Decatur, damaging 50 to 60 homes in the central Illinois city. There were numerous reports of injuries but no confirmed fatalities, police said. One lumber yard was flattened. Many homes in the northwest part of Decatur were demolished or left without roofs, witnesses said. The first tornado struck another part of Decatur, causing less damage. Numerous tornadoes were reported across the state.
