Jet Engine Catches Fire in Hong Kong
Fire broke out in an engine of a Los Angeles-bound United Airlines jumbo jet as it was taxiing to the runway at Kai Tak Airport on Sunday, but the fire was put out and no one was injured, a government spokeswoman said.
There was no immediate sign of what caused the fire in the engine of the Boeing 747, which had 318 passengers and crew members on board, she said.
It took an hour for 10 fire engines to put out the flames, she added.
No casualties were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation, the spokeswoman said.
