Hotline Offers Tips on Environmental Safety
A 24-hour telephone hotline with information about environmental programs has been launched by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, Supervisor’s Zev Yaroslavsky’s office has announced.
The hotline number--1-888-CLEAN-LA or 1-888-253-2652--provides information in English and Spanish on programs for motor-oil recycling, paint disposal, composting and household hazardous waste collection days.
This summer, the Department of Public Works will introduce a countywide education program built around the slogan, “Use It Up. Clean It Up. Round It Up. Dispose of Household Hazardous Waste the Right Way,” said Yaroslavsky spokesman Joel Bellman.
The program will seek to raise awareness about source reduction and proper disposal of household waste and increase participation in collection efforts, Bellman said.
