Ken Caminiti drove in two runs and Florida pitchers walked nine as the Padres beat the Marlins, 6-4, Sunday at San Diego.

Three of the batters who walked scored, including Chris Gomez. He came across in the fifth on Craig Shipley’s sacrifice fly to break a 4-4 tie.

Fernando Valenzuela (8-7) won his third consecutive decision, giving up four runs and seven hits in five innings. Trevor Hoffman pitched a perfect ninth for his 25th save in 32 chances.

Rickey Henderson, 37, had three hits and scored twice but may lose his starting position because of the return of Tony Gwynn from the disabled list this week. The Padres’ other outfield starters are Steve Finley, enjoying a career season in center field, and Greg Vaughn, acquired in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers last week.

“If it takes four of us to rotate so we can win, then I’m all for it,” Henderson said. “But if it means for me to sit down, then we’ll have problems.”

Houston 7, San Francisco 6--Mike Hampton won his fourth consecutive decision over the Giants and Jeff Bagwell doubled twice to lead the Astros at Houston.

Barry Bonds hit his 30th homer for the Giants, the fifth consecutive time he’s reached the mark and sixth overall. San Francisco completed an 0-5 road trip.

Shawon Dunston of the Giants was taken off the field on a cart in the ninth inning after his head collided with Houston shortstop Ricky Gutierrez’ knee while sliding into second.

Colorado 6, Chicago 1--Ellis Burks hit two solo homers and Darren Holmes pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth inning as the Rockies defeated the Cubs for the third consecutive time at Chicago.

Armando Reynoso (6-8) gave up four hits in 5 1/3 innings. He also picked two runners off and benefited from three Chicago errors as the Rockies won three in a row on the road for the first time since April.

Burks, who hit his first-ever Wrigley Field homer Saturday, added two against Frank Castillo (5-13), boosting his total to a career-high 29.

Montreal 7, Cincinnati 3--Shane Andrews hit a two-run triple in the Expos’ seven-run fourth inning at Montreal.

Andrews, whose triple gave Montreal a 3-0 lead, has 16 hits in 34 at-bats with six home runs and 21 runs batted in against Cincinnati this season.

Ugueth Urbina (7-3) gave up two runs in six innings to win his third consecutive start. Mel Rojas got the final out for his 20th save.

Philadelphia 4, Pittsburgh 2--At Philadelphia, Mike Williams gave up two runs over eight innings to win for the first time in four decisions for the Phillies.

St. Louis 4, New York 2--Third baseman Alvaro Espinoza made a two-base error in a four-run sixth inning, allowing the Cardinals to defeat the Mets at New York.

Jason Isringhausen (5-12) retired 12 consecutive batters before Mike Morgan’s single and two infield hits loaded the bases for the Cardinals. Espinoza then allowed Ron Gant’s double-play grounder to go through his legs as two runs scored.

Todd Hundley homered in the second for the Mets, his 33rd of the season and 10th in 19 games.
