Lakers Continue Overhaul by Signing Guard Robinson
Free-agent guard Rumeal Robinson signed a contract Friday with the Lakers. Terms were not released.
Robinson, 29, averaged 5.7 points and 3.3 assists in 43 games for the Portland Trail Blazers last season. In 14 starts, he averaged 10.5 points and 5.3 assists.
“We’re excited about the addition of a veteran guard who is capable of running a team,” Laker General Manager Mitch Kupchak said. “Rumeal played extremely well in Portland last season, and we anticipate he will do much the same with our club.”
The 6-foot-2 Robinson was chosen 10th overall by Atlanta in the 1990 draft after playing on an NCAA championship team at Michigan. He also played for New Jersey and Charlotte before joining the Trail Blazers.
