LePak Shoots 70 in Junior Golf

John LePak of La Habra Heights shot a two-under-par 70 Wednesday to move within one stroke of the lead on the second day of the Ashworth/Golfweek Aviara Junior Tournament at Aviara Golf Club in Carlsbad.

Nick Webb of Turlock, Calif., who tied the course record with a first-round 65, shot 74 to hold a one-stroke lead over LePak and Leif Olson of Golden, Colo.

Tom Osseck of Aliso Viejo shot 73 and is eight strokes off the lead, as is La Palma’s Justin Kim, who shot 75 Wednesday.

Julia Allison of Santa Ana finished with an 82 Wednesday to fall 12 strokes behind girls’ division leader Nicole Dalkas of Palm Desert. Yon Yim of Irvine also shot 82 and is 14 strokes back.
