Former 49ers to Speak at Basketball Camp
Lucious Harris and Bryon Russell, former Long Beach State men’s basketball standouts, will be among the featured speakers at the school’s annual camp, Monday through Friday at the Pyramid.
Harris, a guard with the Philadelphia 76ers, and Russell, a forward with the Utah Jazz, led the 49ers to the 1992-93 NCAA tournament. The camp will also feature skill training sessions conducted by members of first-year Coach Wayne Morgan’s staff. Registration is $175 per player. A professional squash exhibition will take place from 6 to 8 tonight at The Sports Club/Irvine.
Among the competitors will be two of the top players in the country, Grantley Pinnington, the pro at the Spectre Club in Santa Monica, and Tony Brettkelly, the pro at the San Francisco Bay Club. Peter Gerra, pro at The Sports Club/Irvine, will play Grace Wells, the country’s top women’s player, in an exhibition match.
There is no admission charge. The club is located at 1980 Main St., Irvine.
