‘Streetbeat’ Wins Crime Prevention Award
Jones Intercable and the Oxnard Police Department received the Governor’s Award for Crime Prevention for their co-produced weekly “Streetbeat” program, which airs in Oxnard and Port Hueneme on Mondays.
“Streetbeat” is a live, viewer call-in show hosted by crime prevention officer David Keith and Police Chief Harold Hurtt. The show is credited with helping reduce crime in Oxnard by more than 49% since it began in August 1985.
The program lets viewers question officials about crime trends and patterns in their neighborhood.
