Oxnard Teen Wins Housing Poster Contest

Oscar Gonzalez, 17, of Oxnard and 13 other teenagers won the Alliance Housing Management Assn.’s “AHMA Drug-Free Kid” poster calendar contest.

The 10th annual award is designed to encourage young residents of affordable housing to stay away from drugs by using a drug-free theme as the contest’s central message.

Oscar is a resident of the Holiday Manor Apartments. More than 1,000 students from Southern California, Arizona and southern Nevada entered colorful posters illustrating the theme “It’s My Future . . . AHMA Drug-Free Kid.”
