Mom’s Car Backs Over Huntington Toddler
A 22-month-old boy was killed Saturday when he darted behind his mother’s Toyota Landcruiser as she backed out of the family’s driveway, police said.
Christian Meyer died of head injuries about 20 minutes after the 9:57 a.m. accident in the 7700 block of Rhine Street, Police Lt. Jim Cutshaw said.
Police say the boy was accompanied by his father, Christopher, in the front yard when the child ran into the driveway behind the vehicle his mother, Rhonda, was driving.
“There’s no way she could have seen him,” Cutshaw said.
Paramedics took the boy to Columbia Huntington Beach Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 10:20 a.m.
Investigators say no charges are pending against the Meyers.
