Supervisor Urges Plan to Curb Noise

To combat unreasonably loud radios and out-of-control parties in the county’s unincorporated area, Supervisor Frank Schillo is recommending that the county put together a plan to curb noise.

Schillo is recommending that the Resource Management Agency and Sheriff’s Department coordinate a study to implement a noise ordinance in the unincorporated areas.

The county does not have a noise ordinance, only a nuisance ordinance that applies mainly to barking dogs, Schillo said.

Although Schillo said he received only a couple of calls from residents in the unincorporated areas, he said the complaints were probably representative of a larger, underlying problem.

“You think of the unincorporated areas as mainly rural but that is not true,” Schillo said.
