Mayor Wants Fox News in New York: Mayor Rudolph Giuliani wants Time Warner to make room for Fox News on the city’s cable system by replacing a public-access channel the city controls, but Time Warner has rejected the request. In a letter to Time Warner, a Giuliani aide said the city was supporting Fox’s attempt to get on the cable system because the operation is headquartered in the city and represents thousands of jobs. Time Warner already chose MSNBC over the fledgling Fox News Channel. Shareholders are scheduled to vote next week on Time Warner’s purchase of Turner Broadcasting System Inc., which runs CNN. In a separate development, Time Warner Inc. Chairman Gerald Levin has said he might give up control of the company’s cable systems.
