Council OK Expected on Auto Center Roads

Share

At long last, auto dealers may get some roads to help customers navigate the confusing streets and clogged access roads that weave around the Ventura Auto Center.

The City Council is poised to approve plans Monday for improvements and extensions on Olivas Park Drive, Golf Course Road and Perkin Avenue.

The project was identified as a priority in Ventura’s 1997-98 Capital Improvement Program because of its importance to auto center access and its role in moving traffic between Victoria Avenue and Johnson Drive.

The project includes extending Perkin Avenue 600 feet south and Olivas Park Drive 1,650 feet east to link the two.

The project will also include street improvements such as striping, street lighting, installation of curbs and gutters and some storm drain improvements.

Engineers estimate that the project will cost $1 million.

If plans are approved by the council, the city will begin advertising for construction bids.
