Carrey Proves He’s the Ace With ‘Liar’
It was a happy Easter for Jim Carrey. His comedy, “Liar Liar,” scored the highest Easter weekend gross for a single film with $25.4 million. The 10-day total for “Liar Liar” is now $71 million.
The new Harrison Ford-Brad Pitt thriller, “The Devil’s Own,” came in second with $14.3 million. Disney’s basketball comedy “The Sixth Man” placed No. 6 in its first weekend with $4.1 million, edging out “Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie,” which came in seventh with $3.3 million. The new Robert Townsend comedy, “B.A.P.S.,” took the ninth spot with $2.7 million.
“The English Patient’s” box office surged 50% after winning nine Oscars. The epic romance took in $3 million for a 20-week total of $67.6 million.
