A bronze memorial marker has been mounted at Fullerton Airport in honor of the facility’s late director, Roland Elder.
Elder, who died in March 1996, had been director of the airport since 1989.
In 1993, Elder received a special citation from the national Aircraft Owners and Pilots Assn. for “excellence in public service and unwavering commitment.”
Five months after his death, he was honored as Airport Manager of the Year by the Southwest chapter of the American Assn. of Airport Executives.
The Fullerton Airport Pilots Assn. and the Fullerton 99s, both aviation organizations, and the city commissioned the bronze plaque to honor Elder’s contributions to the airport.
