Speedway Schedule Moves to Saturdays

Speedway’s 23-event season moves to Saturday nights this year--beginning this weekend--at the Orange County Fairgrounds.

Two-time national champion Mike Faria, who competed the last two seasons in Europe, will race in most events, and will be joined by current champion Steve Lucero, Brad Oxley (1987 champion) and Bobby Schwartz (1986, ‘89), who won the Coors Light Spring Classic last month.

Shawn McConnell, Robert Pfetzing, Andy Northrup and Gary Hicks also will compete regularly.

More than 30 events are scheduled for opening night, including sidecar races.

Gates open at 6:30 p.m., racing begins at 7:30. Adult admission is $9, juniors and seniors (60+) admission is $5, ages’ 6-12 admission is $2.
