Hill to Head Programming at Channel One

Andrew Hill, the former president of CBS Productions, has been named president of programming at Channel One Network, a news channel beamed to 8 million high school students nationwide.

Hill, who left CBS last year because of conflicts with his new boss, Entertainment President Leslie Moonves, is credited with developing several successful series, including “Touched by an Angel,” “Walker Texas Ranger,” “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” and NBC’s “Caroline in the City.”

While those shows target mostly a middle-aged set, Hill is now turning his sights on teenagers 12 to 17 years old. He says he hopes to build on the existing service, which reaches only 40% of the nation’s schools, while establishing Channel One as a meaningful brand.

“I want people to think of Channel One as a young, hip and credible place to get information,” he said.
