Courses Are Offered for Dancing Feats

Put on your dancing shoes and try one the courses being offered in September by the Huntington Beach Community Services Department.

A 14-week Scottish country dancing class will be offered starting Sept. 11 at the Edison Community Center, 21377 Magnolia Ave. Classes, which are open to teens and adults, will meet Thursdays from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Registration is $46.

A five-week retro swing course will be given at the Edison Community Center from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Mondays beginning Sept. 15. The class will also be offered at Murdy Community Center, 7000 Norma Ave. from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. every Thursday beginning Sept. 18.

Registration is $40. The classes are aimed at people 18 and older with participants dancing to ‘40s big band music and ‘50s rock ‘n’ roll.

A five-week ballroom dancing course will be given at Murdy Community Center from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. every Thursday starting Sept. 18. The class, which is geared toward students 18 and older, will focus on the fox trot, cha-cha, tango and waltz. Registration is $40.
