Carter Hits Grand Slam to Key Fullerton Victory

Brandon Carter hit a grand slam in the bottom of the fourth inning to help host Fullerton defeat Mt. San Jacinto, 10-4, Wednesday in the Hornet Hardball Classic.

Carter’s home run highlighted a five-run inning that put the Hornets (14-14-1) ahead, 6-2. Teammate Mike Caira went four for four with two runs batted in.

Bobby Sunderland (5-2) gave up four hits and one earned run in 5 2/3 innings for the victory.

Mt. San Jacinto is 9-18.

In another tournament game:

Santa Ana 20, Los Angeles City 4 (7, mercy rule)--Cory Williams had seven RBIs, a home run, a double and a single. Rick Gonzalez had two home runs, four runs scored and three RBIs for host Santa Ana (24-7). Joe Urban added three hits and three RBIs for the Dons.

In the Palomar Easter Series:

Golden West 6, Oxnard 3--Cory Carr (4-2) gave up seven hits in a victory for Golden West (15-14), which had eight hit batsmen.

In the Sequoias Easter Classic:

Orange Coast 10, Bakersfield 2--John Fenoglio had two hits, two runs scored and three RBIs for Orange Coast (15-14). Bakersfield is 19-11-1.

In the Hancock tournament:

Cypress 12, Cerritos 1--Nate Endicott had four hits and two RBIs. Teammate Cory Sullivan had three hits, three runs and three RBIs for Cypress (17-15).
