ORANGE COUNTY EARNINGS

New Century Financial Corp.: The Irvine specialty finance company reported that net income for the first quarter rose to $6.2 million, or 42 cents a share, from $2.3 million, or 25 cents a share, for the same quarter a year ago. Revenue grew to $38.4 million from $12.6 million.
