Cal State Northridge has presented its football awards to the following players:

Most valuable, quarterback Marcus Brady on offense and linebacker Brennen Swanson on defense; top newcomers, running back Jaumal Bradley and cornerback Chazz Moore; most improved, wide receiver Jimmy Greninger on offense and linebacker Shayne Blakey on defense.

Scholar athlete, tight end Ryan Schatz; Sefton Award (excellence in academics and athletics), cornerback Donnell Day; Triple-A Award (athletics, academics and attitude), wide receiver Drew Hill.

Big Team, Little Me award, Schatz; Most inspirational, Bradley on offense, nose guard Sean Beard on defense; top lineman on defense, Levi Line; Iron Man Award, wide receiver Eric Carpenter on offense, safety Vito Clemente on defense.

Scout team, running back Alan Taylor on offense, safety Isaac Gardner on defense; Coaches’ award, offensive guard David San Vicente, wide receiver Aaron Arnold and Blakey.

TRACK AND FIELD

Christina Tolson of Cal State Northridge is seventh in the women’s hammer throw and 10th in the shotput in the 1998 U.S. rankings by Track & Field News magazine.

She is the Northridge record-holder in the hammer at 196 feet 9 inches and ranks second on the all-time school list in the shotput at 53-5 3/4.

VOLLEYBALL

A beach volleyball camp offered by professional Shaney Fink for boys and girls 13-18 is scheduled for 2-4:30 p.m. Dec. 21-23 and Dec. 28-30 at Sorrento Beach in Santa Monica.

Cost is $15 per day, or $80 for all sessions.
