With a dining room, kitchen, living room, library, den and outdoor patio, the Home Restaurant in Los Feliz certainly lives up to its name.

And it goes beyond the decor. Using family recipes of the restaurant’s three owners--Steve Edelson, Greg Morris and Kent Parker--Home serves meatloaf, mashed potatoes, pies and other comfort foods in gargantuan helpings.

“At some restaurants when you [get your] order, it looks like someone left change on your plate,” says Edelson, who contributed his mother’s chicken soup recipe to the menu and who flew mom in from the East Coast to train the kitchen staff.

Morris’ father makes the chicken curry. He’s also the dad behind the nightly Dad’s BBQ Pit special.

The wait staff greets entering customers with a hearty, “Welcome home.” When leaving, they say, “Come home soon.”

Open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to midnight, the restaurant plans to start a neighborhood delivery service so customers can eat Home-cooked meals elsewhere.
