Buford Gets 32 Points for Foothill in Title Game

Junior Drew Buford scored 32 points as Foothill beat La Puente Bishop Amat, 91-74, in the title game of Bob Osborne boys’ basketball tournament Friday at Foothill High School.

Buford, who also had 12 assists, was selected as the tournament’s most valuable player.

Alex Rasmussen scored 17 and Chad Bigler added 16, for the Knights (8-1).

Josh Call and Christian Dundas each scored 20 points for Bishop Amat (6-3).

In other tournament games:

Los Amigos 71, Santiago 37--Albert Ngo scored 11 points and Carlos Sanchez had 10 to lead Los Amigos (6-4) to a third-place finish. Sanchez made the all-tournament team. Jose Lizarraras and Miguel Soriano each scored 12 points each for Santiago.

Santa Ana 52, Costa Mesa 45--Darnell Graham scored 20 points and Rene Cabrera had 15 to lead Santa Ana (3-6).

In the Arroyo Grande tournament:

Ocean View 62, Victor Valley 29--Tony Dow had 15 points, six assists and three steals for the Seahawks (5-2) in the championship game. Tournament MVP Casey Lawson added 12.

In the Las Vegas Holiday Prep Classic:

Mater Dei 61, Rangeview (Colo.) 47--Steve Scoggin scored 22 points and Mike Bayer had 12 and nine rebounds for Mater Dei (8-1), which outscored Rangeview, 34-27, in the second half. Josh Jenkins led Rangeview (3-2) with 17 points.

Scoggin and Derrick Mansell had 14 each as Mater Dei beat Henderson City (Nev.), 70-50, also Saturday.

In the Los Al Main Event:

Pacifica 73, Los Alamitos 60--Adam Rachlin scored 16 points and tournament MVP Danny Dinh scored 14 to lead Pacifica to a championship victory.

La Habra 55, Long Beach Wilson 49--Tristen Gadberry, who was named to the all-tournament team, scored 14 points for La Habra (3-8) in a consolation game. Nathan Allard added 13 for the Highlanders.

In the Gary Raya Coed Classic:

Esperanza 72, El Dorado 51--Patrick Lefler scored 20 points and tournament MVP Kenny Ho had 16 to lead Esperanza (7-2) in the title game. Esperanza was 17 of 18 from the free-throw line. Richard Nagy scored 13 points for El Dorado (5-5).

Aliso Niguel 54, Corona 51--Ryan Ross made two free throws with five seconds remaining to clinch the victory for Aliso Niguel (6-4) in the third-place game. Dino Lamela and Dave Camadini each had 14 points for the Wolverines. Ross finished with nine.

Valencia 61, Pico Rivera El Rancho 48--Emmanuel Ortega scored 21 points and Eric Dixon added 14 to lead Valencia (2-8) in a consolation game.

In the Sonora tournament:

Century 46, Long Beach Millikan 33--Mike Zepeda led Century (3-7) with 28 points, 14 rebounds and six blocked shots in a consolation game.

Mission Viejo 43, Edison 41 (OT)--Travis Nieson scored with under a minute left in overtime to lift Mission Viejo (4-6) in the consolation round. Nieson (15 points, nine rebounds) scored four of the Diablos’ six overtime points.

In the Reebok Holiday Classic:

Capistrano Valley 67, Laguna Hills 54--J.J. Sola had 21 points and Mike Stowell added 20 for Capistrano Valley, which pulled away with a 26-18 third quarter. Josh Pierson and Marshall Houser each had 12 points for Laguna Hills (5-3).

Trabuco Hills 99, San Diego Mt. Carmel 63--Trabuco Hills had six players score in double figures, including guard Brendan Casey, who led with 20.

In the Glendora tournament:

Brea Olinda 69, Gahr 63--Guard Kyle Dodd scored 23 points and added seven assists for Brea Olinda (7-2).
