The local chapter of the Elks Lodge, along with city and county officials, will honor law enforcement officers and firefighters next week at its 21st annual recognition dinner.

“They face a lot of peril in their daily lives, and we just want to show our appreciation,” said Jerry Serota, spokesman for Lodge No. 2477.

Dan Morgan, an engineer with the Ventura County Fire Protection District and a 23-year veteran of the department, is one of six people scheduled to be honored.

“Dan was nominated because of his expertise in emergency skills and his ability to inspire a team,” said county Fire Chief Bob Roper in a recent letter to the Elks Lodge.

Other Ventura County public safety personnel to be recognized are Sheriff’s Deputy David Nickels and California Highway Patrol Officer Stephen M. Neumann, who works in Ventura County.

Ventura County Supervisor Frank Schillo and Thousand Oaks Mayor Mike Markey are scheduled to present the awards at the dinner, set for Jan. 21 at 8 p.m.

Three Los Angeles County employees who work in the Conejo Valley also will be honored. They are Firefighter Specialist Larry Allomong; Sheriff’s Deputy Jeffrey Price and CHP Officer Gregory L. Lamb.
