* Shares in Tenet Healthcare Corp. fell 88 cents, or 2.4%, to close at $36 on the New York Stock Exchange after the Santa Barbara-based hospital company said federal investigators are looking at the acquisition of doctor practices by three of its hospitals in Florida. The civil inquiry, first reported in the Wall Street Journal, focuses on the acquisition of doctor practices by North Ridge Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, a Tenet spokesman said. The company believes the investigation is looking into whether North Ridge and two other Florida hospitals owned by Tenet paid fair market value for the practices, he said.

* Pacific Gulf Properties Inc. of Newport Beach said it has acquired a 214,000-square-foot distribution center and 13.5 acres of commercial land in Whittier from Eastman Kodak Co. for $14.3 million. Kodak will continue to occupy the existing building. The vacant land will be developed by Pacific Gulf starting at the end of this year. Pacific plans to build three industrial buildings totaling 262,000 square feet for tenants that have yet to be signed.
