Free Parking Offered to Aid Shoppers, Merchants
After numerous requests from merchants along Broxton Avenue, city officials have instituted a temporary free parking program.
One hour of free parking is available Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the 366-space structure at 1036 Broxton Ave., said Madeline Biesty, field deputy for City Councilman Mike Feuer, whose district includes Westwood.
In addition, two hours of non-metered free parking is available on the east side of the street, she said.
Merchants said that free parking would help lure shoppers to the street, where extensive renovation was completed in November.
“I think it’s just going to make it much more convenient for our customers,” said Cheri Schekman, who with her husband, Tracey, owns Schlotzsky’s Deli on Broxton.
