Shooting Death of 18-Year-Old Driver Investigated
An 18-year-old Rosemead man was shot to death by another motorist this week as he drove through the San Fernando Valley, police said.
The victim, Thien Pham, was killed Tuesday evening while driving his black Acura in the 8600 block of Mason Avenue, police said. A friend of Pham’s in the passenger seat was unharmed.
“Witnesses have been hard to find--the details are sketchy,” said Det. Mike Oppelt of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire Division. “This is possibly gang motivated. We don’t know, but there may have been some sort of verbal dispute.”
The gunfire came from a dark-colored compact car, Oppelt said.
