Hospice Plans Tree Lighting

Hospice of the Conejo will host the 16th annual Tree of Life lighting ceremony, at 7 p.m. Dec. 2 at the JCPenney court at The Oaks mall.

The tree-lighting ceremony will begin at 7:30 p.m., and will be led by a family who lost a son to terminal illness. Entertainment will be offered by the children’s singing group Sunshine Generation.

The hospice is a support agency that helps families with a relative who is terminally ill and provides bereavement support.

During the holiday season, shoppers at The Oaks may honor a loved one by inscribing his or her name in the Tree of Life album and donating a star ornament to the tree. The person’s name will also be engraved in the star. A $15 donation is suggested for each star ornament, but not required. The mall is at 222 W. Hillcrest Drive.

The hospice receives about 500 stars annually, hospice Executive Director Grethe Rivera said. For more information on the hospice or the Tree of Life, call (805) 495-2145.
