Brokers to Raise Funds for Charity

Local real estate brokers will spend a day battling in the sand to raise money for charity.

The 12th annual Los Angeles Broker Challenge will be Sept. 24 at the Beach Club in Santa Monica. This event matches teams representing real estate brokerages, investment firms and development companies to raise money for Family Service of Santa Monica, a nonprofit social services agency.

Starting at 8 a.m., 16 six-member teams will compete in events such as beach volleyball, surfboard relays and doubles paddle tennis.

The public is invited to join the competitors for cocktails, dinner and a silent and live auction beginning at 6 p.m. The $75 tickets include dinner, with $25 earmarked for an auction item.

The fund-raiser is presented by the Los Angeles Commercial Realty Assn. During the last 11 years, the organization has raised more than $500,000 for Family Service.
