Minimarket Worker Convicted of Battery
A Panorama City service station worker was found guilty Monday of sexually attacking a woman in December as she worked in the stockroom, authorities said.
Magdi Helmy, 37, was convicted of sexual battery and battery by a Van Nuys Municipal Court jury after a five-day trial.
Helmy, who is free on his own recognizance, was ordered to return to court May 20 for sentencing. He faces up to six months in jail and a $2,000 fine.
Helmy was found guilty of attacking a female employee of a food distribution company as she inventoried items in the service station’s minimarket on Roscoe Boulevard.
Helmy had suggested the woman move her work to the stockroom for convenience. In the stockroom, he approached her from behind, grabbing her right breast and rubbed his body against hers.
