Pat Robertson
Re Martin Walker’s June 20 Opinion article on Pat Robertson and the Scottish Enlightenment: Since Robertson’s biblical prophecies encourage Christians to actively support Israel, his slandering of Scotland is particularly unwarranted and hypocritical because in addition to never having persecuted the Jews, Scots have made a large contribution to Zionism.
Arthur J. Balfour, a British prime minister, officially supported a Jewish national homeland in Palestine in 1917, and Charles “Orde” Wingate, a British army officer dubbed “Lawrence of Judea,” served as a military advisor to the pre-Israeli army Haganah underground.
Apparently, Robertson has forgotten that God blesses those who bless Israel.
