Fugitive’s Arrest
Re “SLA Figure, a Fugitive Since 1975, Is Arrested,” June 17: The authorities have finally caught a functioning, productive member of society [Kathleen Soliah] and hope to try and convict her so that our criminal justice system can start working to make her a functioning, productive member of society again after officially labeling her as unfit, a proclaimed mission that it has consistently failed to do in the past. This makes it woefully clear that vengeance and retribution, not rehabilitation, are the purpose of our justice system.
