SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO
The City Council and the Planning Commission this week voted down plans for a small residential development at Rancho Viejo and Village roads. The plans proposed by the Olson Co. called for 26 detached single-family homes on about four acres, but neighboring homeowners contended that the density was too high. The Planning Commission had twice approved the project, only to have the City Council ask each time for fewer homes and more open space. But the council on Tuesday decided, because of existing noise levels, that a better use for the property would be an office complex or gated apartment complex. Information: (949) 493-1171.
