10 Arrested, Weapons Seized in Predawn Raids
Predawn raids Thursday by 140 deputies and Downey police officers after two recent gang slayings resulted in 10 arrests and the seizure of 17 weapons.
Deputies served 14 search warrants at the homes of gang members or associates suspected of involvement in the killings, said Sheriff’s Sgt. Norine Plett.
As of late Thursday, no one had been booked on suspicion of murder, but detectives were still investigating.
Deputies arrested people in Paramount, South Gate, Compton and Downey, Plett said. Some of those arrested were booked on suspicion of weapons, narcotics and parole violations. Authorities also seized cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, a stolen vehicle and $7,500 in cash.
