Board Member Gives Stock to College
Helen Yunker, a board member for the Ventura College Foundation, has donated more than $60,000 in appreciated stock to be divided between the college’s science and music programs.
“What better legacy to leave behind than to help others fulfill their dreams and achieve their goals?” said Yunker in a written statement.
The school’s new science complex will receive $10,000, the Children’s Chorale will be given $12,000, and a program for reentry students will get $8,000. Yunker will dole out the rest of the money later.
Yunker is chairwoman of the foundation’s Fund Development Committee and oversees the capital campaign for the science complex, which has raised more than $500,000 since December 1996.
“Helen is a very special lady,” said Marti DeLaO, executive director of the foundation. “Her lively sense of humor and generous spirit have endeared her to everyone with whom she comes in contact.”
