High-Heel Dangers

Re “Caught Flat-Footed and Liking It,” editorial, Nov. 24: Your editorial was right on but failed to mention a major downside to high heels. When a woman is wearing heels or platform shoes (a.k.a. “ankle breakers”) she can’t run away from a threatening situation. Whether this is a coincidence or not we’ll never know for sure, but it’s pretty clear that women are paying hard-earned money to be sitting ducks.

In our free market system, voting with dollars gets immediate success. If we stop paying manufacturers to endanger our health and put our lives on the line, the styles will change and we’ll have scads of attractive alternative choices.
