2 Marines Sought in Bank Heists
Two Camp Pendleton Marines are suspected in a series of West Coast bank robberies since going absent without leave in June, including hitting a Palo Alto branch twice, according to the FBI.
Lance Cpls. Benjamin Michael Johns, 23, and Nicholas Paul Hills, 21, were assigned to the base for two years. They are accused of embarking on a crime spree that authorities believe includes six bank robberies from California to Washington.
Most of the robberies were at Bank of America branches. The first two were in Carlsbad and San Marcos, communities near the base.
