Share

Zebra Technologies in Camarillo, a manufacturer of plastic card printers and thermal bar-code printers, has been chosen to produce driver’s licenses for the Department of Motor Traffic in Sri Lanka.

The Eltron P500 plastic-card printer, made by Zebra, was selected to produce the national driver’s licenses by Access International of Colombo, Sri Lanka, a member of the Access Group of Companies and system integrator of the project. The Access Group’s core business is derived primarily from trading activities related to infrastructure development in Sri Lanka.

Approximately 18,000 national driver’s licenses are issued every month in Sri Lanka, mainly in the capital, Colombo. The new system has the capacity to issue up to 25,000 licenses a month. The production facility, housed in Colombo, incorporates three Eltron printers and related products.
