Man Gets Prison Term in Molestation Attempt

Share

A man who pleaded guilty to interstate travel with the intent to engage in sexual acts with juveniles was sentenced to 42 months in federal prison, a prosecutor said Wednesday.

Raymond Edward Connin, 47, traveled from Denver to Long Beach in June 1996 with the intent to begin a sexual relationship with three children, said Assistant U.S. Atty. Stephen G. Wolfe. He made the trip, Wolfe said, after corresponding with a woman he thought was the children’s mother but who was actually an FBI agent.

U.S. District Judge J. Spencer Letts also fined Connin $20,000 Tuesday, and placed him on three years’ supervised probation when he is released, Wolfe said.

The former Marine already has served nine months in state prison for the same crime, Wolfe said.
