* Equestrian--The Los Angeles Equestrian Center will host “Evening Under the Stars” on Friday at Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Burbank. Sponsored by the California Dressage Society, the event will feature dressage musical freestyles plus the Rainbow Riders Drill Team, the Vaughn Smith Andalusians and the Fabulous Flyball Dogs. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. The center is at 480 Riverside Drive. $10-$15 regular admission; $250 for VIP table with dinner for six; and $150 for a table without dinner. (818) 842-8444.

* Rock--1960s rock legend Eric Burdon will perform Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at Newhall Park in Newhall. Along with the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, Eric Burdon and the Animals were among the top bands of the early 1960s British rock invasion. The group’s 1964 recording of the folk song “House of the Rising Sun,” featuring a powerful vocal by 23-year-old Burdon and Alan Price’s solid organ solo, sold several million copies and propelled the group to the forefront of the international music scene. Other hits followed, including “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood,” “I’m Crying,” “We Gotta Get Out of This Place,” “It’s My Life” and “Don’t Bring Me Down.” Burdon and the other members of the Animals were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. * Broadway--In its summer season finale, the Valley Cultural Center will present a musical tribute to Broadway composer Jerry Herman on Sunday at Warner Park in Woodland Hills. Herman is best known for his smash hit “Hello, Dolly!,” which won 10 Tony Awards in 1964, but his other Tony-winning shows include “Mame,” “Milk and Honey” and “La Cage aux Folles.” Show time: 5 p.m. The park is at 5800 Topanga Canyon Blvd. Free. * Oldies--Captain Cardiac and the Coronaries will perform Sunday at the Starlight Bowl in Burbank. The group has been performing rock hits of the 1950s and ‘60s for more than 25 years, since the band’s inception at Monroe High School in North Hills in the mid-1970s. The band has performed at three Super Bowls and done numerous gigs in Las Vegas, New York, the Caribbean and many other places. Show time: 6:30 p.m. The venue is at 1249 Lockheed View Drive. $4-$5.
