The city will install three-way stops instead of speed humps along Ocean Hill Drive at Marina Vista Drive, Mesa Vista Drive and Sea Knoll Drive.
The City Council also decided to have police services monitor speeds in the area more often.
Residents on Ocean Hill Drive and surrounding streets complained of speeding drivers down Ocean Hill Drive, the only outlet to Stonehill Drive from the surrounding eight streets.
Despite staff recommendations following an August 1999 neighborhood workshop, the council decided on stop signs instead of placing three speed humps along Ocean Hill Drive between Sea Lion Drive and Stonehill Drive.
Councilman Harold R. Kaufman said the city could not install speed humps high enough to effectively slow down traffic.
