SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

A scantily clad man suspected of being under the influence of drugs was arrested after he chased and beat his parents, then turned his aggression on two police officers, authorities said Friday.

Shahrokh Charles Aghdasizad, 36, of Sun Valley, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and held in lieu of $50,000 bail, police said.

The attack occurred shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday in the 10500 block of Oro Vista Avenue. Aghdasizad, who was wearing only underwear, was seen chasing his mother down the street and throwing bricks at her. Police said she was struck by at least one of the bricks.

When police arrived at the home, they found Aghdasizad choking his father, who was pinned to the ground.

Aghdasizad charged at a female officer who responded to the call and threw her over his back, said Lt. Steven Allen of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Foothill Division. The other officer tried to subdue Aghdasizad with pepper spray, but it had no effect.

Five more officers were called in for assistance, and they finally managed to arrest Aghdasizad, police said. Allen said the son’s erratic behavior may have been due to drugs and an unstable mental condition.

All the victims, including the police officers, were treated and released from local hospitals.
