Drug Courts

Share

* Prop. 36 is apparently well meaning. Treatment for drug addicts instead of incarceration makes sense. We already have treatment in place with the drug courts. These drug courts emphasize accountability. They are not a quick fix but a long, comprehensive program, and affordable according to the means of the participant.

A better solution would be to strengthen the drug courts with more funding, thus making them more available to addicts. More judges, more sessions, more treatment personnel are needed.

Why should a successful resource be destroyed to make way for a Band-Aid on a deep wound?
