Billboard Firm to Continue Ads for Delgadillo

The outdoor advertising firm that trumpeted Deputy Mayor Rocky Delgadillo’s campaign for Los Angeles city attorney is keeping at least some of its signs up through the June 5 runoff, according to a notice filed Friday with the city Ethics Commission.

The notification by Eller Media Co. that it is spending $120,000 on 12 billboard signs as an “independent expenditure” supporting Delgadillo lifts the spending limit that Delgadillo and his runoff opponent, Councilman Mike Feuer, had agreed to. For the runoff, the limit would have been $770,000.

Eller Media, which has tangled with Feuer over his efforts as a councilman to more tightly regulate billboards, spent almost $116,000 on billboards supporting Delgadillo during the primary.

Earlier this week, Feuer consultant Larry Levine called for the Delgadillo campaign to agree not to accept donations from political action committees and lobbyists. Feuer has long refused such contributions, but Levine said Wednesday that Feuer was considering changing that policy.
