UCLA Is Routed by Baylor

Danielle Crockrom had 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Sheila Lambert added 19 points to lead No. 9 Baylor past UCLA, 92-59, Sunday afternoon at Waco, Texas.

Baylor (10-0) outrebounded the Bruins, 61-38. The Lady Bears made 27 free throws and UCLA (3-5) made 13. The teams combined for 35 turnovers.

“We were hoping to control them,” UCLA Coach Kathy Olivier said. “We did a good job focusing on the post early, but we didn’t get it done the entire game.”

Whitney Jones had 14 points for the Bruins and Jalina Bradley added 12.

Baylor built a 39-24 halftime lead, closing with a 7-0 run in the final three minutes.

Crockrom, held to only six points in the first half, scored Baylor’s first eight points of the second half.

No. 2 Tennessee 68, No. 6 Stanford 62--Michelle Snow scored 24 points and Kara Lawson added 16 as Tennessee rallied at Palo Alto.

Lawson scored on a running jumper with 1:48 remaining to put the Lady Vols (7-0) in front for good, 62-61.

Nicole Powell scored 17 points for Stanford (8-1), which had a 13-game home winning streak against nonconference opponents ended.

No. 3 Oklahoma 91, Illinois 69--LaNeishea Caufield scored 28 points and Stacey Dales had 21 for the Sooners (10-0) at Norman, Okla.

Iveta Marcauskaite led Illinois with 16 points.

No. 8 Duke 90, North Carolina Greensboro 58--Alana Beard scored seven of her 21 points during an 18-0 run in the second half to lead Duke at Durham, N.C.

Sheana Mosch had 16 points and Iciss Tillis had 15 for Duke (8-2).

Brianne Dodgen led the Spartans (4-4) with 15 points.

No. 10 Georgia 68, No. 16 North Carolina State 63--Camille Murphy scored eight of her 13 points in overtime at Raleigh, N.C., as the Bulldogs (7-0) handed the Wolfpack (6-3) their third consecutive loss.

North Carolina State rallied from a nine-point deficit to tie the score, 54-54, on Rachel Stockdale’s three-point basket with 2.4 seconds left in regulation.

Stockdale scored five of her 14 points in the final 22 seconds of overtime.

No. 12 Texas Tech 95, Southern Mississippi 34--Casey Jackson scored a career-high 19 points and Texas Tech scored the first 23 points at Lubbock, Texas.

Amber Tarr finished with 16 points for the Lady Raiders (5-2) and Jia Perkins added 14.

Sonja Brown scored eight points for Southern Mississippi (4-5), which shot 19.3%.

No. 14 Michigan 86, No. 21 Louisiana State 81--LeeAnn Bies had 21 points--including a layup that sent the game to a second overtime--and 15 rebounds for the Wolverines at Baton Rouge, La.

Michigan (9-1), which committed 25 turnovers, rallied from a 13-point deficit at halftime.

Jennifer Smith scored 19 points and Stephanie Gandy had 15.

Roneeka Hodges led LSU (4-3) with 17 points and Doneeka Hodges had 15.

No. 25 Auburn 71, Florida State 59--Tia Miller had 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Tigers at Auburn, Ala.

But Auburn (10-0) played tough defense, outrebounding the Seminoles, 44-27.

Tasheika Morris led Florida State (8-2) with 16 points.
