Peru’s Cabinet tendered its resignation en masse to President Alejandro Toledo in a traditional end-year gesture of confidence, but Labor Minister Fernando Villaran said he expected most ministers to be reconfirmed in their jobs.

“We’re waiting for the president and prime minister to evaluate us and see what grades they give us. But I think [Toledo] is very happy,” Villaran told reporters.

Toledo took office in July vowing to create jobs and growth in the poor Andean nation.

Speculation has swirled in recent weeks about the replacement of Justice Minister Fernando Olivera, Health Minister Luis Solari or Women’s Minister Doris Sanchez.
