Council to Debate Larger Library Site
City Council members today are expected to consider a plan to relocate the future site for a new library in Anaheim Hills.
City officials designated a two-acre lot at Bauer and Monte Vista roads for the facility. But the need for a public library in the eastern portion of the city has grown, and that plot of land is no longer large enough, said Greg Hastings, zoning division manager.
Now, planners want to develop space at the police substation at Santa Ana Canyon and Roosevelt roads into a regional public library. City officials would be able to create a centralized civic center for Anaheim Hills by building the library next to the substation, which is housed in the former office building of the Anaheim Memorial Medical Center on six acres.
“We’re just trying to put things in the right place out there,” Hastings said.
The council meets at 6 p.m. in chambers at City Hall, 200 S. Anaheim Blvd.
