Fannie Mae Expands Its Web Services

Fannie Mae’s nonprofit arm, the Fannie Mae Foundation, has launched a new version of its Web site, complete with information for consumers and local housing organizations.

Consumers can use the site at https://www.fanniemaefoundation.org/ to access home buying information and housing groups, and individuals can apply for the foundation’s housing grants over the Internet. The site is the first part of a new “e-strategy” initiative, the foundation said.

Perhaps the most innovative part of the site is its e-grant process. Individuals and groups can submit requests for affordable housing and other types of grants directly through the site. Information about the types of grants and the foundation’s funding priorities are also available.

The site includes links to the organization’s various initiatives, fellowships and homeownership education programs.

The foundation also provides new links to consumer information through an accompanying Web site, https://Homebuyingguide.org.

Consumers can use the site to download or order the foundation’s various home-buying and credit guides, which are available in nine languages. Home buyers can also find a list of counselors and mortgage lenders in their area.

There is also a list of local housing events sponsored by the Fannie Mae Foundation.
